Thermage provides a great (and painless!) solution towards tightening the skin and reducing wrinkles without having to resort to surgery. It is so effective that in the cosmetic industry, it is starting to be called the non-surgical face lift. Thermage is an excellent skin care treatment for those who have problems with sagging jowls and skin (on the brow and jowl), as well as wrinkles. Thermage delivers consistent results, as well as very little down time since it is non-invasive and safe. After the treatment, you will immediately see the different – tighter skin with fewer lines and less prominent folds.

Thermage works by using radiofrequency energy. This energy tightens the collagen – the framework that supports the skin and keeps it from sagging and developing wrinkles. The energy aims for the different layers of the skin – strengthening it and producing long-lasting results that you can enjoy for years. What’s more, it is also subtle – the improvements are there and people will be wondering out loud that you look great but will be hard put to identify the treatment you have had.

Thermage is also useful in redefining the contours of the face without the surgical incisions that people once had to undergo. It allows you to age gracefully – to look young and refreshed for your age.

The treatment usually takes an hour, although this may vary depending on the degree of damage you want fixed. This skin care treatment is already approved by the FDA. It makes use of a device that releases energy pulses that last from two to seven seconds. The entire treatment is composed of some 400 to 500 pulses. These are targeted towards the deep skin layers so as to heat the collagen underneath the skin.

During the treatment, there may also be some mild pinching or burning sensation. The doctor will apply a local anesthetic to the area to be treated or you may also be given some pain medication. Also, with this skin care treatment, the possible side effects, although rare, include swelling, peeling, redness and blisters, particularly in the treated area. These are just temporary and will disappear in a few days, or at worse, a few weeks.

You may need several touch-ups of Thermage to maintain the appearance. Also, because aging still occurs, you may eventually need to look into an alternative cosmetic procedure. It is best to discuss with your cosmetic doctor the best options for you to take. The doctor will take your age, physical and psychological condition in his efforts to provide you with a skin care treatment plan that is well-suited for your needs.
